Thanks fellas,
I think I'll remove the inside handrail and then check if the nuts can be removed without having to pull the outside plugs to hold the screw. If not, I'll R&R them but at least now I know what to expect.

I need to re-bed the teak handrails on top of the cabin . I removed one of the wooden plugs to reveal what I thought was a wood screw but it turns as if it has a nut on the other side. To get to the other side I must remove the interior handrail. So before I tear up too much stuff I thought I should...
