Re: 150% drifter for CD30. New in bag. Never used.
The sail is still available. This sail has a wire luff and no hanks. You can fly it with a spinaker halyard or the jib halyard if you are using hank on sails. We had a furling jib, but it will work eather way. A beautifull sail with blue and yellow star burst pattern and never used. We are selling i...

Good bye to the Cape Dory family
Our CD30 Ketch "Arianna" has been sold and we have our new boat. Arianna was sold in only 5 days and we got our new to us Westsail 32 the next day. We have said when the time is right it would all fall together, but never thought it would be this easy. fair winds and following seas to all ...

Arianna is for sale. !979 CD 30 Ketch
After 2 seasons of cruising we have decided it is time to move up in size. Arianna has just returned and is ready to go sailing again now. New sails in 2010. Heavy duty triple stitched, off shore spec. by Schurr sails or Pensacola Fl. Main sail with full top and standard lower battens and 2 reefs. 1...

Re: Asymmetrical spin turning block mount
We put a snach block on the aft cleat and it works just fine. We sailed most of the way across the Gulf of Mexico in very light air last year like this and had no problems. We always try to KISS.

dingy numbering
We are in the process of putting the registration numbers on our dingy and have a question. How do you get the registration sticker to stay on an inflatable dingy? Will it come loose when the dingy is deflated? Can we put it on the transom or just keep it in an envelope in the dingy bag? We are from...

What makes it a roller reefing furler is having a foam luff sewed into the sail that flattens the sail as it is furled. When done correctly you can have a much better sail shape with a partially furled/reefed sail. Last year we sailed for over 12 hours offshore in a full gail with just a reefed jib ...

I'm still wondering about anyone who has sailed a ketch in extreme conditions. We have for a short while, but never with big breaking seas. Just a lot of wind and less than 100 miles from shore. It is funny how many heavy weather stories you hear about the gulf of mexico. You have to be ready for an...

I'm not sure if it is proper to say we hove to or lay ahull. In my mind it's more about how you lay to the wind. In our case the windage of furled sail and cruising deck clutter added a large amount of extra windage, much like having out some sail. Most of the windage was from the main mast aft. Din...
