Eight Bells for Rich Abato
Thursday, July 13th, longtime CDSOA member and good friend Rich Abato lost his battle with cancer and sailed off into the eternal sunset. He and his wife Melissa were members of the Northeast Fleet and sailed aboard their CD36 Mahalo attending many CDSOA gatherings both on and off the water. Rich wa...

Re: Ty Sr specs vs CD22 etc.
You’ll find the specs for nearly all of the Cape Dorys right here on this web site as well as many of the owner’s manuals. No need to look any further than right here. You can scroll all the way to the top of this page and click on “ About Cape Dorys ” or click on the link below. http://www.capedory...

Re: Weather stripping for cockpit lockers?
This won’t help with the leaks but it will eliminate the rattling. I used small diameter clear plastic tubing, which I slit lengthwise, and slipped over the edge of the cockpit locker lids on our CD32. It was cheap and worked quite well. When they no longer stayed in place I just replaced them.

Re: Bomar Hatches
You can purchase Bomar replacement lenses directly from Bomar Pompanette: https://pompanette.com/product-category/replacement-parts/lenses/deck-hatch-lenses/ Thanks for the bedding material advice. I thought, finding the Lexan would be pretty easy. I did some searching and couldn't seem to find a br...

Re: Cape Dory 30 MK ll Genoa size
The CD30MKII was designed by Clive Dent as a sloop. I think she came with a 130 or 135% Genoa.

Re: Interior Teak Care
How about "PineSol", has anyone used it and had good/bad experience? Thanks Pine-Sol should not be used on unsealed, waxed or oiled wood. If you use it to clean the wood anyway, you will still need to seal it with teak, linseed, tung or lemon oil. I got tired of oiling the wood on our CD3...

Re: Defender’s Warehouse update
Since February they have updated their web site and they are now providing more detailed information for the products. That in itself is a major improvement and more like the way it used to be. Thank goodness.

Re: Marinebeam online store..
FYI the following can be found on the Marinebeam web site regarding replacement bulbs: “… NOTE: As an end-user, and a private boat owner, there is no federal or USCG-requirement for you to have certified fixtures on your vessel. This is strictly a requirement for boat builders. Additionally, the USC...

Re: Bomar Hatches
When Pompanette was still selling Bomar hatch rebuild kits, it came with a tube of Sudbury Elastomeric Sealant (black) to reglaze the acrylic lens. Rather than an elastomeric you should use one of the many black silicone sealants, just read the label and make sure it is waterproof as well as U.V., c...

Re: Bomar Hatches
Your Bomar 100 Series Cast Aluminum hatches are the best hatches money can buy and are well worth reconditioning.
Ditto what Jim wrote. Also, when re-installing them, use a good bedding compound (NOT 3M 5200) or tri-butyl tape.
