Re: Typhoon vs. Rhodes 19

According to the SailboatData website:
Typhoon LWL=13.92', SA/Disp.: 15.66
Rhode19=17.75', SA/Disp: 22.24

He'd BETTER be beating you! You and your Alberg hull do look a lot better though...

Re: Tinted port lites?

So... has anyone replaced their port lites with gray? How does it look from the inside? Too dark? FWIW, I replaced my Ariel's deadlights a few years ago with gray acrylic and am very pleased with the results. It's not too dark at all and I it keeps the boat cooler on sunny days. I was steered towar...

Re: sail storage

Hanging seems like a good idea. Mice and other critters love barns and folded sails in the winter time...

A good read and many kudos for the guts to buck the status quo. Thanks for sharing your story!

Now maybe you can work on a "lessons learned and learning" book with all the gory nautical details. :)

Re: Wanted to Buy - CD Ty Senior or CD 22 with Trailer...

Here's a nice looking Senior - no mention of a trailer however: http://southcoast.craigslist.org/boa/4418690843.html There are a few on sailboatlistings.com: http://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/42343 http://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/40823 WITH a trailer, but from last August, probably sold: * h...

Don't forget the slightly smaller Pearson Ariel and Commanders. (LOA: 25'6") Great boats! You can most assuredly get into a decent one in your price range.

Can you post a pic of the business end of the boom? Thanks!

Nice Blog! I'd vote to raise your waterline some, maybe not as much as the PO did, especially if you're going to be on a mooring. I sail a close cousin, an Ariel, an her waterline is optimistic as well.

Re: Cape Dory 22 New Traveller

Very nice installation!

On another note, I notice you've got what looks to be a Typhoon type engine mount on your aft hatch. If that's what it is, how does that work on your CD22? And what size outboard do you use? Great solution to the permanent mount off the stern.

This site is really cool - it lets you search multiple Craig's Lists at once: www.crazedlist.org Also, you may want to consider taking a trip to Chicago near the end of the sailing season and spending some time at a few of the marinas. You could save a HUGE amount by buying a "local" boat....

Duncan, when a similar incident happened to me a couple of years ago, I also replaced mine with the same Pela model you got. After I changed the oil in the boat, I was so excited at how easy it was, I went home and changed the oil in my lawn mower and snow blower as well! I think you'll really like ...
