would be to have a local welder make up a spreader bar for you, buy your own lifting straps, and lift the boat using ONE of the travelift slings. The spreader bar could be in the form of an H, with connections for your straps at each of the four tips of the H and the pick point at the center of the ...

It has been so long since I've been on a 22, I can't remember much about it. Here's what I would look at: Is there a bulkhead separating the lazarette from the rudder post area? If so, I think you'd be okay if your strap were under it. The reason being that the force would be carried not just by the...

Spring Cove Marina several times and like the place. It is located at the mouth of the Patuxent on the western shore: http://www.springcovemarina.com/ Trevor Richards is the manager, I believe. They do allow DIY, but I'm not sure the other fees would be the cheapest. It is a nice place, though, and ...

Sorry your trip was cut short, Mike
That must be a bummer. I trust you enjoyed Maine; I sure have the couple of times I've sailed those waters (although I launched at Rockland and sailed in the area from there to Southwest Harbor). Glad to hear you've made it home safely... Tod Frenchboro, across from Mt. Desert Island, with blueberry...

Newfoundland
I'm sure everyone remembers LaVida's trip to Newfoundland. Here are some links to messages by a guy who is presently there. His photos are really something else! Each link is to the initial post in the thread and other posts below them contain similarly fantastic photos... http://www.cs-bb.com/forum...

Thanks, Joe
Yes, I did it. A little practice goes a long way. Should I see wear or a cut in the rode, it would be an easy matter to cut off the bad section and make a new splice.

anchors
My boat is 17', 1,600# and the primary anchor is an 11# Bruce + (shackled to) 17' of 5/16" stainless chain + (spliced to) 200' of 3/8" three-strand nylon. I've had good luck with it with only one drag in 8 yrs of use (although I am usually anchored with good protection). That drag happened...
