It is amazing how few parts there are...

I have #6's on my 17' boat. Here's a step-by-step I shot once when servicing them:

have other 28's had this problem?

In other words, is it:

a design flaw (repair w/ modifications -gusset?-)

a maintenance issue (simple repair)

just overtightened back/fore stays? (simple repair + adjustment)

What a tale!

Sorry to hear about the loss of your boat and glad you weren't hurt. That's good you were compensated to your satisfaction. Yes, I first heard of the suction effect you describe in an old National Geographic article about training ship captains at a simulator. It is due to the Bernoulli Principle an...

a 25D has the same companionway as a 26D?

That's pretty interesting. One less thing for the factory to have stocked.

I've heard of dry-sailed boats....

actually developing hull blisters where a (wet) bunk contacted the hull.

If using carpeting, it is probably a good idea to use an outdoor type that doesn't hold much water.

as a regular ramp user

at a variety of places, I'd have to say it depends on the particular ramp. I have used ramps where you would have no problem launching provided you had a long enough trailer tongue extension. (e.g. Rockland, ME) But most ramps I've seen would cause problems because they aren't long enough. The trail...

I found this comment...

on another forum: "Yeah, books can be written about the quirks of resin/finish interactions. For the record, System Three makes a good one part spar urethane that is compatible with their resins. The manufacturer told me that "Z-Spar" and "Captain's" also work and that there...

Amine blush?

Could there be some amine blush remaining on the surface of the epoxy? That might inhibit setup.

A green dish scrubby and water will remove it.

Dunno if that is the issue here...

ceiling finish to avoid mildew

According to two very knowledgeable people (Charlie Jones-boatbuilder and former liveaboard cruiser, and Rachel, current liveaboard who works at a boatyard), unlike satin, glossy varnish doesn't grow mildew... Here's what happened at Baytown Marina..

Martin just recently restored Turtle, a Pacific Seacraft 25. She was damaged when the whole marina's docks floated up and off their pilings. Link to a news video interview in his post. Martin is the one not carrying the shotgun: http://bbs.trailersailor.com/forums/trailersailor/index.cgi/read/655945...
