frigoboat
I also installed a frigobaot system in my CD36. I've had it for about 5 years without a hitch. I'm currently down in Mazatlan Mexico with our boat and it does just fine in the warmer waters down here. One note to frigoboat users - when I first installed my system I talked with the distributor about ...

Fluxgate
I just installed the same autopilot and put the fluxgate under the galley sink, against the innermost corner of the small cabinet. Do you think the sink would cause any problems. I have nothing else under there (manual galley pump) and no current. It is pretty close to the center line and just about...

Al Lien - S/V Catalyst
Hey Fred, Just took a look at your web site - very nice! My wife and I are on our way to Mexico on our CD36 and we happen to run in to Al of S/V Catalyst in the Channel Island marina in Southern California. He's quite an impressive guy. At 70, after a heart and kidney transplant, this guy took off o...

Batt placement
I'm sure my configuration is different then yours. I own a 1979 CD36 which had two 35gal water tanks in the main salon floor and tow additional 30 gal tanks, one under each settee for a total of about 130 gals of water. I placed two of the 6v batteries right under the Nav station seat as you sit at ...

My stuff
If I had time I'd raise the waterline on our boat as well since we are mixed now ..... but now time. Maybe get to it on the road ... so to speak. We are only planning on being out'n'about for about a year and have not amassed quit the load you have, but I'll have to remeasure with full tanks. In add...

36.75"
Right now, with half full tanks, but everything else pretty much on board, and standing on the dock next to the boat my toe rail at the cap shroud is 36.75" to the water. Russell, what are you doing that's going to raise your water line 2-3" ...... that's a couple thousean pounds of stuff ...

CD36 Freeboard
Just curious ....... if any of you 36 owners happen to be down at your boats in the near future and have a tape measure ..... let me know what your freeboard is from the top of the toerail to the water just outboard of the cap shroud. I'm pretty loaded up for a trip down to Mexico and wondered what ...

Miox Pen
Joe, I just bought one of those Miox pens. It looks like such a simple little gizmo I can't believe it actually works. Anyway, your system sounds like a good one. My only problem is I have no pressurized water on board ..... just foot pumps and the Pur systems require a minimum of about 20psi - the ...

I have plastic tanks, plastic lines and a foot pump for water. No pressure water in the system. I do plan on using chlorine in the tanks and the water filter I have on board now will remove any of that taste. Worst case scenario we go with bottled or purchase water in jerry jugs, but it would be nic...

Water Purification
Thanks Tom, I'll keep the info you provided for the trip down. As far as water purification goes - I'm aware of essentially three ways of water purification that will work on a boat. 1) Reverse Osmosis which works but is really expensive, 2) Two stage activated charcoal filter which supposedly also ...

Cruising Spin or Drifter?
Hi gang, Anyone have experience with a Drifter and could you comment on it's performance over a Cruising Spin? We have a cruising spinnaker, but frankly it always seems like it takes alot of attention. I'm not a set-it and forget sailor, but when on a long sail I don't want to have to be "const...

Water Purification
Hello all .... My wife and I are heading to Mexico this Fall in our boat and wondered if anyone had information on water purifiers. The water in Mexico as most know is not safe for non-natives to drink. I don't really want to go to the expense of a watermaker (no time either) and have plenty of tank...

for what it's worth
Just my 2cents on wet sanding. When I bought my 1979 CD36 the hull was really old, tired and even slightly pitted up at the bow for some reason. I tried the rubbing compounds followed by was, but not that great really. I had planned on paint when the yard manager suggested we do a test patch with we...

Variprop
I looked into putting a MaxProp on my CD36. Couldn't do it without mofidifications and I'm pretty sure that applies to all the CD36's out there. You might look into the Variprop http://www.varipropusa.com/ . It has the shortest hub of all the feathering props out there and I know it will fit. You ca...
