displacement vs. mass (weight)
Displacement is the mass of the water that the boat displaces when placed in water. The mass of the boat is the actual weight of the boat. Gordon Setter on a Cape Dory
Bob,
I also have a trusty companion who happens to be a Gordon Setter. You have inspired me to elavate him to First Mate on "Liberty" (CD25). Where did you get your PFD for your Gordon?
It is great to see other Gordon Setter / Cape Dory owners in the world (a small and proud group).

mercury outboard
I bought a new mercury 6hp 4- stroke for my cd 25 and fit with no problem. It is plenty of power to get off the mooring and through the mooring field. Even on days when the wind disappears and we motor back to the harbor, it is enough power.

Welcome
Welcome,
From one Cape Dory 25 (#50- 1973) owner to another, I welcome you. I have owned my CD25 for one full season now. I sail in the same waters as you will (Hingham, Hull and beyond) and the boat has lived up to its reputation. See you on the water .

self tacking jib
Has anyone added a self tacking jib on their Cape Dory? I currently have a 120% headsail on my CD25. Would my ease at singlehanded sailing outweigh any significant speed or performance change?
