Re: "carpeted bulkheads" in the Typhoon Senior
We also had an S2 for a couple of years, ours was a 23ft. It was a 1976 Bicentennial edition. It had light blue low pile carpet on some walls, red, white and blue cushions and red shag carpets on the cabin sole. We did replace the shag with some blue indoor-outdoor carpet and we made new cushions. T...

Re: Need help with freshwater system
And to follow on to what Steve said... If the "manifold" where all the separate tank valves are connected is of typical CD construction, the hose is clamped on a piece of straight copper tube. On Mahalo this was a constant source of air and water leaks. I replaced it with a new manifold as...

Have you considered a diesel fuel fired heater rather than propane? Dickinson makes them also.

You can also buy 99% Oxalic Acid in bulk for bigger jobs. 2lbs for about $15 on Amazon. (even cheaper in larger quantities) It also works for bleaching teak and removing topside stains. You mix it about 4oz to a gallon of hot water. Wear gloves and eye protection!

Re: best source for standing rigging
Another vote for Rigging Only: http://www.riggingonly.com/ or if you are doing your own mechanical terminals use their online store: https://www.riggingandhardware.com/ I used them to supply all of the standing rigging on Mahalo including furlers. I used all Sta-Loc fittings (except Hi-Mod for the b...

Re: Lake Champlain
We haven't sailed there in many years but Lake Champlain is realy nice. Winds are a bit challenging since the lake is in a valley between the Adirondacks and Green Mountains, as you get to the narrower sections wind may make significant abrupt direction changes. I would also warn you that storms can...

Re: Espar Heater for CD 28
We have a D4 on our CD36. It replaced the original Espar that died after 25 years. I suspect the D4 might be a bit big for a 28. I ordered it from Ocean Options. I have nothing but good things to say about them and Ed Hamilton who was the sales engineer that helped me. They are in RI so they may not...

Re: Typhoon Weekender Bronze Port Windows
This place typically has a bunch of used bronze ports. They are in Portland, ME and are only open on Saturday. Hamilton Marine's new location is just down the street.

Re: Seeking Depth Sounder Input
We have a Garmin GPSMAP 742xs with a Garmin GT15M-IH transducer. The transducer can be used with a hull deadrise angle between 0 and 25 degrees. Our transducer is mounted below the nav station which is one of the few spots with a deadrise angle that would work without doing any serious modifications...

Re: learned a lesson today
On Mahalo the vents were designed to drain into the bilge. Unfortunately the poor design used flexible PVC hose which over time collapsed and since the hose coming from the tank was just stuck in a larger hose that was going to the bilge, effectively it just drained behind the settee. I think the id...

Re: Any Ham operators?
I'm a relatively inactive ham. I do have have an Icom IC-7000 HF rig installed on Mahalo using an antenna tuner and an insulated backstay. I don't have anything permanent set up at home! I do listen in on 14.300 MHz on occasion.

Re: Hotwater Heater Replacement - CD30B
Don't have a CD30B but I can tell you that on our CD36 getting the old water heater out required cutting it up in place, it would not come out in one piece. We replaced it with an "Isotemp Slim 15 Marine Water Heater - 4 Gallon". Although it has a smaller capacity than the original 6 gallo...

Re: Prop Paint
I have been using Rustoleum and other brands of cold galvanizing spray paint for years. I have also tried Pettit "PROP COAT BARNACLE BARRIER", which I believe is functionally and visually identical to the other brands of cold galvanizing zinc paint. The zinc paint isn't a perfect solution ...

AS David said, it's not unusual at all in Maine. Our CD36 comes home every winter. Here are some pictures of the boat arriving home. These pictures were taken several years ago when we still lived in NH. We still bring the boat home now that we live in Maine. We do store the mast at a boatyard. http...

Re: Hot water heater, pressure relief valve
If this is the right one and you can get the old one out it just might be the least expensive thing you can buy for a boat ![Smile :-)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
