Re: Stack Pack & Strong Track on CD 31?
We have a Tides Marine track on Mahalo (CD36) as well as a sail pack (was a "Mack Pack" but current one is a similar custom one made by Melissa). We also have a furler on the staysail. The outhaul for the staysail runs to a block at the end of the staysail boom, down through a fairlead on ...

Re: Universal engine goes straight to highest rpms (not runa
I suspect that engine is built based on some version of the Kubota D1005 or D1105 block. Here is a link to a workshop manual for that block (it might be a later version): https://media.toro.com/servicemanuals/Kubota05-E3B.pdf Here is a link to the parts manual for the D1105 (again may be a later ver...

Grounding plates were also used for Loran (and Ham or Marine HF Radio).

Re: Boom Bale for 25D?
The Rigrite web site says the Cape Dory 25D used the "CD2" extrusion which is 2 1/4" wide:

I believe both Schaefer and Ronstan have boom bails that should work.

Re: Installing roller fuller on CD30C stay sail keeping the
On Mahalo CD36 we have roller furling on the staysail and we kept the club. We do have an outhaul that runs back to to the cockpit. Love it.

Re: Chartplotter
The web site linked below says that a 1 inch hole in the hull 1 foot below the surface floods at a rate of 19.4 gallons a minute. The speed transducer on Mahalo is mounted so that it faces sideways on the keel about 3ft below the water line. (Maybe not the best place for it but that's how it was ins...

What Carl said about cell service in Maine is spot on. It seems to have gotten better in more populated areas but worse in others over the past few years. The smaller Garmin GPSMAP 742xs series (I think 743 now) are nice small units with easy to see displays, built in support for depth/fishfinder an...

Re: Standing rigging replacement
Looking at the online MS300 manual for wire sizes and lengths and guessing what the wire terminals are (I figured a threaded stud on one end and an eye on the other for each wire) I estimated about $1200 for the wire, swage terminals and labor for swaging based on prices from Rigging Only. You would...

Re: fresh water tanks
I don't know who made the originals but Ronco Plastics has a wide selection of base tanks that they will modify as necessary to locate ports, vents etc. We purchased a tank for our CD36 from them about 15 years ago. I sent them a diagram of where I wanted all the fittings. They have a catalog of mar...

I'm not generally a big fan of Harbor Freight tools but this set of hooks and picks is super handy.

Re: Head problems…
I believe that is a Raritan PH-II head. Rebuild kits are available for about $65. It's not a fun job (no plumbing jobs are fun) but not that difficult. The web page below has diagrams that show how the different parts work which might be helpful to diagnose the problem. https://www.raritaneng.com/en...

Re: Recommended Cruising Buide to NE/Maine?
Our guides for south of Maine are a bit dated, so I'm not sure what is current but for Maine you want this one:
https://www.mainecoastguide.com/
... and like most cruising guides some info changed even before it hit the book shelves.
