Re: Immersion suits
Steve, Never used a drysuit but am eying a Kokatat for kayaking in the fall and early spring. I did however spend a summer on a research vessel "cruising" around the Anderson Archipelago in southeast Alaska. We were required to practice putting on the USCG approved gumby suit in 60 seconds...

Re: Ty Engine bracket kinks fuel line
Steve, On my Ty daysailer I had a 1988 Merc 5hp long shaft which required disconnection of the fuel hose prior to raising it out of the water. If I didn't disconnect it the fuel hose would kink. The hose was then stored coiled on the top of the fuel tank with no leakage of fuel. I apologize for my i...

Re: The Boston Red Sox
Dear OJ,
Whilst determining what color to paint the bottom of my last Ty, I chose to GO BLUE, not orange.

Re: Typhoon drain plug on keel
Depends on whether your Ty is a weekender or daysailer. My '76 daysailer had the drain installed by the factory while neither the '74 or '79 weekenders had one.

I used these people for a mooring cover for my Ty daysailer. Nice people.

Here's some more photos I took today. Deck and non-skid are original; never painted and solid like in 1976.

Re: 1976 Typhoon Daysailer for sale
Matt, No disrespect taken as you have a very valid question. My hull number is indeed Hull No. 49 and is a 1976 open daysailer. In fact the entire hull ID number is: CPDG0049M76C. Please note that this is the "G" model and not your "K" model. Perhaps this is causing your confusio...

Re: Typhoon Battens?
Jeff,
Try Sail Care. They provided new wooden battens for a couple of originals that were missing. This was just last year when I had the sails cleaned. Hope this helps.

Ty Daysailer for sale
1976 Cape Dory Typhoon Open Daysailer Hull #49 1997 Mercury long shaft 5hp. Very reliable motor with low hours. 1986 Single-axle Trailer: New wiring harness and lights, new tires including spare, bearings recently inspected and packed, highway worthy. I think saying this Typhoon is solid and in very...

This is a Typhoon OB Mount
Ron,
You're absolutely right. It is the "Handy" mount just like the one on my open daysailer. There were apparently as least two different OB mounts for Tys; the Handy mount and the Spartan mount. At that price any Ty owner needing a mount should snap it up.
