Free to a good home - Cape Dory 28, mid project.

Cape Dory 28 sloop, mid project. Apparently, I never had the cash flow to carry this off. I'm broke, exhausted and can't continue. Main, working jib with jib boom and genoa in fair condition. Another genoa in better condition – sewn for furling but has hanks on it. Schaeffer furling gear included. S...

Re: Hi there. I'm fixing up a 1975 Cape Dory 28

Welcome and congrats, Paul. I'm a CD28 owner as well - 1975 #53. When Michigan thaws out, one of my projects is to put stainless steel chainplates on outside as you describe - a la Fenix. I'll be watching the blog. I track my glacial progress at www.bubbathepirate.com.

Thanks!

Thank you x2. I hadn't found the # of digits for some reason. Also, I missed the 'hull' part of that sentence.

Hank on.

Less moving parts.

In a gale, you can eliminate the windage on the forestay/bow.

My humble opinion.

Carved

How many digits are the USCG Doc #'s? I was thinking of carving them into the companionway trim. I don't know if there is enough room there. Was kind of thinking it would look 'shippy' and all, but maybe I'll have to stew on that a while.

SS Keewatin, Great Lakes Liner.

As I was leaving the marina, having worked on my CD28 all day, I caught the sun kissing the bridge of the SS Keewatin, a Great Lakes Liner Museum. [edit: 2011/09/10 - the ship is KeeWatin, sorry] [img]<a%20href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/b9mVjNJCUe7EKgx-lDBByg?feat=embedwebsite"...

'75 CD 28

My 1975 CD28 is just like the pictures shown from sailingtexas. Late last summer, I replaced the forward 6 portlights with New Found Metals' tri-matrix ports. Still not bronze, but I COULD afford theirs. I like them a lot actually. The pilot berth will come out this year. I think I'm going to use th...

New Word.

Completely worth the long read . . . AND I learned a new word. "Japery" seems to be a valuable acquisition.

Thanks, all. I will do the trig and keep working on the plan. It will be a while but I'll try to post some pictures in 'projects' and on my blog.

hmm, I hadn't thought about the stands yet. Though she is on a cradle which is slightly more cohesive, but perhaps if some of it went we'd all go. While I don't have any specific plans for the Southern Oceans, I am replacing these for the same reason Fred did - I want it to be rock sold offshore. Th...
