"down to the barrier coat"
I don't want to impune on anyone's skills but I have a hard time thinking that one could stop at the barrier coat with 36 grit on an 8" grinder.
I know I would sand right through mine, so I'm not spending the money on a barrier.

Hull #53
My CD28 is hull #53. The water tank is under the Vberth which is a bit lower than the later models. Though it does in later models, the Ronco tank will not fit in my boat. I took out some composting or something holding tank under the aft port side of the vberth. I'm still looking for a tank and a p...

I looked but didn't vote . . .
I looked but didn't vote because I'm not sure which bayonet type they are/were. I just tore out all my wiring and the light fixtures; almost all!. I'm rewiring and converting to LEDs along the way. I'm quite sure they were not G4's. I was saving up for a G5 but I might get an iPad now. :o) I haven't...

Second the Soy Strip
I second the Soy Strip. It works like a charm. Just lay it on as thick as they say, cover it with plastic and wait as long as they say. Invest in a good quality putty knife, it will come off like butter. Then sanded the hull down to gel coat. I went through in a couple places but I have some other f...

Furling?
Hank or Furl? I have a genoa, I think is a 150, on a foil with Scheaffer furling hardware. I was going to put it on eBay. I have a few pix if you are interested.

Thanks!!
I heard the tail end of an interview with the Author on the Diane Rehm Show. Very interesting sounding guy. I'm glad you posted the link as I had written the book title down to buy it, but I had not gotten it right! Thanks. I also like the Native American Quote. Sounds very Zen which occasionally in...

Marine Surplus, Used Boat Parts - MA, NH, RI, ME
I'm going to be in the Boston area in July. I'll end up with 2 or 3 days to kill. Does anyone know of any good boat yards, junk yards, dealers, surplus haunts that I could peruse? Right now the only serious thing on my list are portlights. My CD28 is one of the early ones with plastic portlights rat...

The truth lies somewhere in the middle. . .
I'll concede that as the legal limit is reduced it doesn't take much more than a couple to blow a .080 [for me, as a CDL license holder it is .040!]. However, if you are at anchor and enjoying a, emphasis "a" sundowner, you are likely not going to have a problem. If you are getting sloshed...

Boat Brite Soy Stripper
Boat Brite, from WM, worked great for me. I did my CD28 hull in about a day and a half with a gallon and a half and two 3" putty knives. It is expensive, but I highly recommend it. Very Do-It-Yourselfer friendly. Caveats: lay it on thick as directed; leave it on for as long as they say, or a bi...

Left Field Question
I have a furling jib I am going to sell off me CD28. Is the "S" with a swam the Schaefer logo? There are no other marks.
Thanks in advance.
