Well OJ...Marvel Mystery Oil does it all the time....
I would have recommended Vaseline since it's known to break down rubber.hmmmmm what are we getting into.....

A good dab of heavy waterproof grease solved the same problem on my CD30.... Some 30 years ago Cape Dory folks sent me a bronze fitting with a "O" ring but was never installed.... MORAY'S RED....I believe thats the spelling. been good enuff for all kinds of needs for anything requiring lub...
