Re: Boat Insurance
FWIW check your policy. Does your insurance cover Agreed value or Cash value? Is recovery and disposal covered in case of a loss?
We have some club members getting a bill for the recovery and disposal of their boats, a learning experience for all of us.

Re: Sandy's Victims
Joel, Yes, RYC had a few boats still on their moorings and were fine, a couple dig break free, but this time it was propably better to be in the water! FWIW: I've posted a list of gear I’ve been able to salvage from my 1977 CD 28 (#125) in the "For Sale" section. Some items are original (o...

CD 28 Salvaged Gear after Hurricane Sandy
This is the list of gear I’ve been able to salvage from my 1977 CD 28 (#125). Some items are original (or came with the boat in 1999), others replaced. If there is something you’re interested in send me an email (driscoll610 [at] comcast [dot] net). I’m uploading pictures to: http://capedory28parts....

Sandy's Victims
Raritan Yacht Clubs (Perth Amboy, NJ) lower buildings and yard were destroyed. All 30+ winter stored boats floated off their stands and the wave action pushed them into the buildings. My CD28 was a victim as well as a 2-time Bermuda Race winner. Having trouble uploading pictures, will post when I ca...

Re: windpilot pacific on cd 27
Did you look at other wind vanes before deciding on the wind pilot? The price of the Norvane seems enticing but is there a reason for it being under priced?
Thanks,
Dennis

CD14 sliding seat
I have a little river marine heritage 15 that has just what your describing, sliding seat and folding diggers. Uses 9.5 ft oars (same as racing shells). It will go 5mph. Mine is set up differently, but this may be what your looking for Row Wing Folding Wing Rigger: http://www.rowalden.com/pubsite11/...

4th owner
I'm the 4th, but I believe the longest at 12 years for CD28 #125. The first two owners held her for about 9-10 years each.
With one in college now and one more to go, I don't think we'll upgrade any time soon.

I'll try to look for my notes. I drew sheeting angles on the boat diagram and sail plans from the owners manual. IIRC, they are in line from the headstay to an aft turning block. It probably doesn't make much difference if they were parallel (slight difference in sheeting angle). I used fender washe...

Check this thread, it has a picture of the inboard tracks I installed on my 28. I am very happy it.

Leaks
As Steve noted, I too had little water enter during Irene, in contrast to a few weeks prior we had a torrential rain & a good amount of water entered. My Irene prep included turning all vent openings aft (away from wind driven rain). I guess as Russ noted these vents are a prime entry way for wa...

Thanks for the tip Joe. Lockers may be a source, but unfortunately not the only one.

Trying to Find Leaks
I have a leak(s) somewhere in the topsides, after heavy rains water finds its way into the boat. Yesterday I tried to "pressurize" and scout out the leaks. I covered the anchor hole, dorade, engine vents and covered/taped the companionway. I placed a shop vac exhaust into one of the engine...
