ports
Seahunt, 1979 was a pivotal year for the CD25. All the 25s prior to 79 were, as you said, plastic portholes. 79,80 and 81 were all bronze opening spartan ports. I believe there are a few other changes that accompanied this shift including rigging size, fresh tank size and something else but I can't ...

150
You are right. . the 150 is monstrous, and I could attempt to bent my mast a bit forward of where it is now to reduce the weather helm but I think that the CD25 is meant to be set in such a way that weather helm occurs naturally. A rigger looked at my rig Thursday evening (before my sail) and though...

Sail combinations - what is best?
Hello everyone. I just posted in another thread about my beautiful first day of sailing. It was marvelous and the CD performed (not surprisingly) very well. I have quite a nice selection of headsails and (this season) a second reef on my main. Headsails include a 150, 120, 100, storm jib and a drift...

Yesterday!
was gorgeous. I took her out for the first sail of the year and somewhat of a shakedown with my refitting. Have a look. http://flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=493194346&size=o and you can see a few other shots here: http://flickr.com/photos/heyness/ Spring is finally really here. h

My forte
I am new to a few of these drinks (making them) but the one drink that I do VERY well (if I dare say so) is a bloody mary. Although it isn't a typical sailor drink, it does help in the morning after a lively evening before at the anchorage. My new conquest is to learn how to make an exquisite Mojito...

Fantastic. .. this is my kind of thread!
I've been making a lot of journeys to the boat yard and putting in some good hours getting my CD ready for the season. As many know, mother nature can be quite the tease during the New York spring time. One evening in March -- after a fairly warm day -- I decided to make myself a Gin and Tonic. I th...

Dinghy - PVC vs. Hypalon and other questions
Hi, Now that my refit is almost finished on my CD25 I'm getting ready to do some cruising. I want to find a nice small dinghy that will hopefully fit into a cockpit locker when deflated (Ok. . a really small dinghy). I also hope to find a dinghy that is quite inexpensive as my refit and one-time cos...

Mark, I would say that I love it enough to want to see the results of my refit this year. I have enjoyed working on the boat but it has been quite time consuming. At times it is tough to juggle my professional schedule with the boat maintenance. Anyway, thanks for the vote of confidence. I will look...

Opening the can of worms
<sigh> I hesitate to even start this post because I'm afraid of the responses I will receive. I have a '79 CD25. I've been working hard on my refit for the season. All the brightwork has now been stripped and some of it (toerail in the fall) has already been refinished with Signature finish Honey Te...

Rain in NYC
It's crappy weather.
But I will be up at the yard again tomorrow. Gotta get it done soon. The yard is threatening to put me in by the 15th (eek).

Aside from a solid motor
I brought my CD25 to NYC from Niantic (120+ miles I think I remember). There are a couple things I would check into on your boat; Reefs -- you should have at MINIMUM 1 reef for your mainsail and lines to tie it. It would be much better to have two. A storm Jib. If you have one, it sure is a nice thi...

Port Paragon - not great
Yes. . Port paragon is slightly lower than Garhauer but all my communications with Hal were nothing but terse -- bordering on offensive. He has a Garhauer dealer license but he doesn't offer any real support or advice -- just selling his stuff on Ebay. Rudy at D&R was not only cheaper than port ...

Bedding compound?? How have you/do you fix that new hardware
Hi, Carter Brey and I rode up to the boatyard the other day and had a pretty lengthy discussion about what to use for bedding compound. Carter had used 3M 4200 on his sabre for bedding. My other friend Peter Schorr (Shannon 38 owner) was suggesting polysulfide and saying that he thought 4200 was too...

Another source for Garhauer
I recently purchased a bunch of Garhauer gear from D&R marine: http://www.drmarine.com The owner is named Rudy and he is a really good guy. On top of all of that, Rudy's prices on Garhauer are slightly LOWER than direct from Garhauer. Garhauer probably sets their price based on a 'suggested reta...

NICE boat
Is that paint or Gelcoat?
I have fantasized about a solid color (other than white) hull for years. Someday it will come to pass.
At the very least, your photos inspire me to finish my winter renovations -- which are many. . . and costly.
