music

Amen Frank,

No music while sailing, unless the wind is very very light. . and then I have the music (sweet music) of bottles of cold brew being opened.

I like my time on the water to be an escape from all other facets of life -- including music.

Cars and boats tiller

bottomscraper wrote: Hmmm if it's so great why don't cars still have them? Well, I would assume that it might have something to do with the fact that cars routinely travel at speeds between 30 and 70 miles per hour, and are require to negotiate very specific tracks. Perhaps if our sailboats were do...

This week - for sure.

You folks have me all excited to try some stuff. I am going to go (initially) with the Citristrip that Carter Brey recommended to me a while back. I bought it at home depot and as he showed me on the Sabre sailing board, people evidentally use it on gelcoat with no harm done. I will take before and ...

Stuff stuck to the gelcoat

Interesting that you are asking about this. I did all my brightwork this winter and some other stuff and now my gelcoat is a bit of a mess. I was out there today to clean it up and I made some progress with a 3m pad and some murphy's soap. I figure that it's pretty low impact although I am sure I am...

Sizes

I believe this is the correct owner's manual for my 2stroke 8hp. (It will load a .pdf into your browser -- or you can 'right click' and save the .pdf to your desktop and open it with a viewer. Mac users can hold down ctrl and click for an option to save it to disk) I think my motor is either the 8BE...

My 8 hp

It's an 8hp 2 stroke. .. and yeah, the tanks were included when I bought the boat. That is quite useful when you are making a long haul trip (or caught in a blow and need some motor help like I did last year) I don't know what to say about the 4 strokes. They are heavier and bigger. I suppose 6hp is...

Zinc - did anyone witness undue corrosion?

My Tohatsu/Nissan 8 is a 98 and it seems to have faired pretty well with it's 'small' zinc. Have some of you seen corrosion on your motor or is it rather that the zinc just looks too small? I haven't seen any real evidence that there is a problem. Of course you want to change your zinc every year, b...

My 8 hp

Hi everyone. Several people have asked me about this motor fitting in the well. As far as I can tell, there was no modification made to the well. The motor is relatively easy to remove and can be turned within the well. I often do this at slow speed as our CD25s do not like to turn unless you have a...

Tohatsu 8

Hi,

I have a Tohatsu 8 hp and it's outstanding.

I won't change that motor until it is truly on it's death bed.

Plenty of power for the 25 and starts immediately (also not too heavy).

Interesting

Wow. If this was a CD25 that was a lot of work. It looks like it was done fairly well, although that Diesel looks like it might need a little love. If you look at the Q&A section on the listing you will see that the owner states 'this is not a CD25'. It must have been a CD25 -- the D wasn't made...

neat items

Cathy,

That is a nice collection of stuff.

It is also a horrific web design.

I never understand why a company in the business of sales would not invest just the smallest amount of time (or money) into creating a well organized web presence.

<sigh>

Alas.

Gelcoat

I plan to do some gelcoat work myself this season and I have already contacted Minicraft. They seem to know their business pretty well. I will not, however, opt for their standard cape dory colors but rather send them a little chip of my boat gelcoat. They can computer match the color. Ultimately, y...

Cushion Covers - Success

In the fall I asked many of you about cushions and I also scoured the archives about what others had done. I ended up following the advice of Lonestar and purchasing multi-density bulk foam and cutting/gluing it myself. Then I sewed my own covers -- following the directions of Don Casey and a few ot...

HAH!

They are giving you too much time off over there, Carter.

You know. . I can help you put a cam cleat on the side of your cello if you like. We can bed it just around the corner from your 'port side' F hole.

funny stuff.
