Re: Need Marina/Boat Club Recommendations in MA/RI

Thanks for all of the suggestions. We have an excellent boat club in New York which is making this so difficult. New England is definitely more expensive. A slip with power and water where we are is about $1800, plus $800 or so for winter storage. It looks like it will be just about double everywher...

Re: Need Marina/Boat Club Recommendations in MA/RI

I just drove through Mattapoisett and the South Wharf YY. South Wharf seemed like a long enough drive off of 195 that I don't think I can handle Westport. I might cave and just choose on of the Brewer yards on Narragansett. Last weekend I drove all the way out little Compton which was also quite a h...

Re: Need Marina/Boat Club Recommendations in MA/RI

You really have two basic Sailing locations for the area your thinking of moving to - Buzzards Bay and Narragansett Bay. Buzzards Bay is some of the finest sailing waters in the country and basically runs the south cost of MA from the RI boarder to the Cape Cod Canal. Just about every port along he...

Re: Need Marina/Boat Club Recommendations in MA/RI

Thanks for the suggestions. Mattapoiset looks nice and affordable for what it is, essentially just a mooring rental with some facilities and not necessarily a club. Marina Bay is obviously your full service in water marina. I will say that I think it is easier for me to single hand off of a mooring ...

Need Marina/Boat Club Recommendations in MA/RI

Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I have posted. There hasn't been much happening with us and our CD. I'll skip right to the good part. Our CD28 s/v Driven was put in the water last year and the year before. Last year she never made it out of her slip once, and only twice the year before. ...

Domenic,

How long have you been at Liberty Landing with the Tayana? We docked next to one on our way up the Hudson in 2008.

We have a winner! Our CD28 is at Minisceongo, also in Stony Point. Our club also has a Typhoon, or had I don't think I've seen it yet this season and a 25.

I learned to sail out of the Nyack Boat Club. I think a Hudson River CD rendezvous is in order. What say everyone?

Thanks for the advice everyone. I feel like everything that has been said so far is correct. They are some sort of voids that most probably aren't blisters which need to be filled and faired. I feel confident in doing the work myself knowing that this is likely an easier fix than I first imagined. F...

Re: I think I had it, too

Joe that sounds like the same symptoms as ours. If the fix is that easy and something I could do myself I feel a little relieved. To clarify for everyone else, the boat has been soda blasted. What you see around the holes is scuffed up gel coat. We are having the yard that does the mechanical work o...

Blisters...uh oh...help!

You guys are going to laugh when you realize I missed this one. First off thanks for all the help on the barrier or not after soda blasting discussion. Unfortunately I think I may have jumped the gun. The back story is that this is my dad's boat. I clean it, maintain it, wax it, move it, etc. In the...

Just in case anyone is still considering dry-cleaning, don't. Our boat has some original cushions in the V but replacements on the settees. We took the settee cushions to get them dry cleaned and they shrank and the fabric pulled. They hardly went back on the foam and now look stupid haha. I would a...

Which way are you planning on going up the NJ coast, ocean or bay? I would highly recommend the ocean and not entering through Barnegat inlet or going up the bay. I sailed our CD28 out of Forked River, south to Barnegat inlet, out in the ocean and up to Manasquan inlet, then up through the lower bay...

Thanks for all the responses. I feel I need to clarify the boats history a bit more. We purchased it in Forked River, NJ on Barnegat Bay-saltwater. It was in that area for many years before we got it. I do not know how often it was hauled. It had many layers of non-ablative bottom paint that had bui...
