Cushions
Sal, I just need the measurements of your cushions to run a quote. Additionally, let me know if you would like to use your existing foam or new foam. I will run a few quotes for you using different materials. I have full access to all the normal materials and fabrics, including Sunbrella and Phifert...

Typhoon Cushions
You can get a quote at newJSI.com Just put in your measurements, fabric and type of foam. If you want to it yourself, you can get a precut kit (just needs sewing) from sailrite.com. I have a budding part time business doing cushions and marine canvas. I will be glad to discuss cushions as well. As I...

4 hp long
Christian, Are you using this in Newburyport? If so, you should use at least a 4hp, a long shaft is a must. Some may say that it is too heavy, I might even suggest a 6 hp. The current in that river is incredible. I had a 16 sailboat just up river of the Rt 1 bridge years ago. I had a 3.3 hp on the 1...

10 ft Inflatable Can I use a long shaft engine??
Hi all, We did not get the Typhoon in this year. But we are doing plenty of other fun things this summer so I don't feel so bad. We have a 10 foot Achilles that we got from a friend this year with a wood transom. It can take up to an 8 horse motor. We have a long shaft 4 horse from the typhoon, besi...

The Dingy
We built the dingy from Uncle Johns plan, no, not my uncle. http://unclejohns.com/skiff/Default.htm We had lots of fun building it, but we don't recommend these plans. It dosn't seem to be well balanced. With one person in it, the boat sits well, however, with two, the boat is either bow or stern he...

Drilling holes
I remounted the bracket on our typhoon too. It is not a problem to do. It sounds like you plan is fine. I highly reccommend the West Epoxy guide. They sell it at most boat store for 3 or 5 dollars. It is well worth it. They guide you through the process, and give tips on making it last. I also recom...

Giib Winch Removal
We have the same winches on our 72 Typhoon. When we bought it, one of our winches was stuck too. We had to use an impact screw driver just to get screw our, but like you, the winch would not come up. The design of the winch in beyond simple. There are no gears or bearings. The base with the 3 screws...

Alternates for trailer
Try these links below for alternate trailers. Most of these companies make a trailer that will fit the typhoon for about $1000 less than triad. I have seen the Triad typhoon trailer and it is very nice, but just so expensive. http://www.trailnsail.com/ http://www.trailrite.com/ http://www.customsail...

Typhoon V-Birth Cushions
We are planning on making new V-birth cushions for our typhoon. We have ordered zippers, piping, etc. We are having trouble deciding on fabric. The old ones were vinyl. Should we do vinyl again, or sunbrella?
