Classic Boat Rally for Typhoons

Woody: What a great event you have organized. I have enjoyed reading of both previous years adventures on your website and in the magazines. I'm cautiously optimistic that I will be able to participate this year with my Cape Dory Typhoon. Right now I'm awaiting new sails. I live just south of Savann...

XYZ Extreme Anchor

I wonder if anyone has any experience with this anchor? http://www.xyzanchor.com/default.htm I learned of it from an ad in the months Small Craft Advisor. As a coastal Georgia sailor with tides up to 9' I could feel safer with an anchor that does not need to reset with an 180 degree current shift. T...

Tempted to choose Option 1 (No seacocks)

While I know this goes against all nautical wisdom -- I too am tempted to replace the frozen corroded gate valves on my Typhoon with high quality straight-thru hoses and premium double clamps. Yes, no sea cocks, ball valves or gate valves at all. My reason -- can anyone give me any instance when a s...

Zincs where?

I'm not sure what you'd be protecting with the zincs. Certainly there is no prop shaft. The outboard motor likely has it's own zinc. If the rudder were metal then I could see a zinc placed there. The only metal I know of are two bronze thru-hulls (and even those could be Marlon) and the rudder post....

A very satisfied Garmin Map76C User

I have one of the Garmin Map76C (Color) units and without any reservations it is absolutely one of the best purchases I have ever made. I LOVE it! I'd previously used a Garmin GPS 12 and before that a 12 year old Magellan. The unit has long battery life -- lots of memory (100 MB) and more cool featu...

Where to find Jack Stands

I had the same question about five years ago when I wanted to store my Cape Dory Typhoon in my driveway. I was looking for the basis "boat yard stands" I seen in the yards. I purchased four at a reasonable price from Brownell Boat Stands, Inc. Tel: 800.533.8433 They have served me well. He...
