Portlight Insect Screens - When they're gone, I’m done.
Dear CD owners: It is time for me to stop making copper and bronze insect screens for our boats and spend more time sailing. I still have a bunch of Cape Dory standard screens left but when these are gone, that’s it. Get yours now from my website link here. https://www.screensofschoonerbay.com/scree...

Re: CAPE DORY 30c "DE LA MER" is for sale
Just to let you know, DeLaMer was featured on the cover of the very first, "Good Old Boat Magazine" cover back in 1998. https://www.screensofschoonerbay.com/screen/screen-6/files/84d0fb01-0899-4008-9b1d-c3cf6a7d6919_1_105_c.jpeg DeLaMer along with her owners, Larry and Jan were fixtures on...

Re: Lake Superior in the early fall
Ahh...... John Stone on the shores of the big lake, where the water won't eat your boat!
On the Keweenaw? You are just about 100 miles south east of the finest wilderness cruising to be found. Where is your boat when you need it?

Re: Perkins 4108 raw water pump
Jeff: In the twenty years that I have owned Mariah, I have had the Jabsco raw water pump rebuilt twice now. It seems that they work good for a few years and then start to drip a bit, then a little more. I live with it for a while but watch it. I Just had it rebuilt two years ago and will find out ho...

Re: torqueedo shaft length
I got one of the Torqeedos for our dinghy. It is the coolest way to propel oneself I must say. Plenty of guts to get the boat going and no smelly exhaust, gasoline to store or oil to mix. It lives nicely in the quarter berth on its side when not in use and charges up from the batteries/solar/alterna...

Dave: The sanitary hoses may be in need of replacing. They get permeated and start to smell with age. The way to figure this out is to use a damp rag and wipe the hose that connect the head to the tank, the pump out hose and the vent hose. If the rag has the odor, more than likely, the hoses are per...

CD 36 and Beta Engines
Greetings CD ers: A question to all CD 36 owners out there who re-powered their 36s from the venerable Perkins 4-108 to something different. Specifically a Beta but I will entertain others brands. Did you change the original engine bearers? Stick with or modify the original steel frame? Build whole ...

Re: CD 33 in Isle Royale National Park
Keith: I forgot that my Avatar photo is a picture of Mariah from 2004 before the fuller. I got the boom pretty high then with the sail furled. That would have been done only with the topping lift. Same length of Boom Sheet now as then. I am leaning also toward the Loose Fitted Main as well. There ha...

Re: CD 33 in Isle Royale National Park
I got it, very clever. My staysail is hanked on so I can't do what you are doing for now. But I think that if I tightened up on the topping lift and loosened the sheet (maybe need to add length to the sheet) then it would pull the staysail boom up parallel to the stay. I'll give it a try when I lau...

Re: CD 33 in Isle Royale National Park
I noticed in your first pic that you have the staysail boom up parallel to the furled staysail. I love how it clears space on the fore deck. How did you do that? an extra halyard and extra length for the staysail sheet? Keith Keith: He is a more side shot of Mariah with the staysail boom lifting ar...
