CD30 bilge pump access

My CD30 (1983) has what appears to be an excellent and so far reliable bilge pump stationed immediately forward of the companion way ladder in the center of the teak and holly salon sole. There is a beautifully crafted 12x12" access plate which I can lift up easily to see the beast looking aft ...

taking the counter off to get at the ice box

I am thinking to try pull up/ yank off the starboard counter on my 1983 CD30 in order to get to the icebox and install the refrigeration gear and additional insulation. I would LOVE to avoid having to cut it up or saw it out. Can't I just maybe cut, chisel or saw at the seams or something so I don't...

cooler insulation '83 CD30

The cooler on my 1983 CD30 is spacious and I am considering a number of add-on refrigeration systems. My question relates to the factory installed insulation on my existing cooler by Cape Dory. I know that houses have certain insulation levels, sometimes referred to as "R" numbers; e.g. R-...

Thai Teak Marine Co.

I have been unable to make a contact with Thai Teak Marine who 10 years ago made a very nice cockpit grate for my CD22. I am now ready to purchase a custom made grate for my new (to me) CD30. The person on their phone in Thailand speaks VERY little english, and no one has responded to my numerous e-...

SD28 actual length

Hi! Anybody know off hand if the 28"1" length of the CD28 includes the bowsprit length???? Just wondering because of the temporary slip requirements for a boat show. Thanks

'81 Cape Dory 28 for sale

Our well cared for and very beautiful CD28, 'Anatrina', has come on the market for sale this month: she's on SF Bay in California. I am very sad to sell her, but I am moving up. She has been as far as Panama with a previous owner and is fully equipped for cruising. I've lavashed alot of care and upg...

MD7A vs. MD7B

I looked at a CD30 today that has a volvo MD7B. My CD28 has a Volvo MD7A. Can one of you savvy folks out there tell me the difference. Also, the transmission appears to be facing forward. So what's up with that? Thanks for the help.... I'd love to make this move up! It has hot and cold water, (read:...

CD22 berth dimensions

Can anyone give me some measurements on the 2 quarter berths and the v-berth on the CD22? Length and width? My last experience was with the Typhoon which was a tight squeeze for my 6'1" length. She's a great little sailer but I'm worried about the sleeping space.

control panel fuses

This has got to be too simple: but my masthead light is out, the deck light (spreader light) is good the bulb is good, the wiring in the mast appears to be good; I've acutally been up the mast!....so I suspect a fuse or other issue at the control panel. The little white buttons aside the toggle swit...

That's my beautiful 'Anatrina', 1981 CD28, out on SF Bay for a spin with one of my best friends as crew. I want to be sworn and testify on this point: "retirement is highly under-rated"!. Next week the new 135% Genny may be ready at my sailmakers. Life, of course, is still hard at times......
