I have owned two CD25 s - a 1974 and a 1979. My 1979 is named Windsong too. I have owned her since 1984. I am sure you will enjoy your new boat.

Re: CD25 Repower
FL Dan - I pull the starter rope over top of the traveler. It is a clear pull - the bottom of the hatch actually touches the top of the motor, so it is above the level of the traveler.

Re: CD25 Repower
That is just what I did. I cut a 2" notch the width of the motor in the motor mount, and now the hatch closes fine. No problems with motor clearance above the water.

Re: CD25 Repower
I have had my CD25 since 1984. I have had 9.9 HP, then a 6 HP, both 2 stroke. In June this year I purchased a Tohatsu 6 HP, 4 stroke, with 25 " shaft. I am amazed at the better performance. I can get hull speed easily at only 30 - 40% power. In Savannah we have 7 ft tides with strong current an...

Re: CD 27 Standing Rigging
As for life, no one will say more than 10 -12 years, but a lot depends on how the boat has been sailed. I have owned my 1979 CD25 since 1984 and it was just this year that I replaced all the standing rigging. My boat has been in the water almost continuously since I bought her - no winter haul outs ...

Please give some details re the "slots in the deck" that the screws hooked into - were they cut into the gelcoat, or what?

Re: cape dory 25 thru hull installation ...
Adam - my two original thru hulls are in-line, located on starboard, about a foot aft of the bulkhead. I cut a small - about 4 " square - hole in the inner liner just forward of the first thru hull for my inboard transducer mount. We have mostly mud bottoms here and the Huminbird depth sounder ...

Re: cape dory 25 thru hull installation ...
I would definitely opt for the inside the hull installation - I assume this is for a depth sounder? My CD25 has thru hull openings, but I no longer use them - I have installed a thru hull depth sounder and I use my GPS for speed. When I originally used the thru hull instruments, I had serious marine...

Re: West Marine "scoop" anchors
After reading your latest note, I Googled "New Zealand Scoop anchor" and got the following website: http://www.offshoreblue.com/safety/anchor-new.php It presents a nice review of various "modern" anchors. If you get down to the last design discussed at this site, there is a link ...

Re: Spartan port replacement glass
I just took my port to a local glass repair shop (Rick's Glass) and they did a good job for a reasonable price.

Use dielectric grease on coax or not?
I have read past threads re dielectric grease and they leave me confused. All agree that dielectric grease is non-conductive. But there is some confusion whether to apply dielectric grease to coax or other 12V boat circuit connections. The confusion above relates to "if dielectric grease is non...

Re: CD 25 Boom end to floor minimum
BobC - I went over and measured my 1979 CD25 today, and the end of the boom is 4 ft 5 inches from the cockpit floor, or 3 ft 3 inches from the cockpit seats at the very end of the boom. This is with the boom seated at the bottom of the mast slide. The boom can be raised 8 1/2 inches before it starts...

Re: 33 Cape Dory "LaVida" for sale
I would agree that LaVida is a solid CD33. I spent over a week aboard last Spring helping Rit move her North from Key West. Rit has added some nice comforts, and everything from engine to ground tackle was great. I already have my favorite CD so I'm not in this game, but whoever gets her will be hap...
