I am currently assigned to the Carolinas Fleet. Is it safe to assume that your instructions re filling out the application form apply to that Fleet too? My refund letter just said to mail the check. I will be glad to fill out the form if that helps.
Thanks

Re: Need new outboard for 1978 Cape Dory 25
After many years with OMC 2 strokes 9.9 and 6 hp, I moved to a Tohatsu Sailpro 6 hp 4 stroke, and happy with it. I did chisel out about a 1 1/2 inch notch in the motor mount board so the lid would close - simple and no problems after 4 years.

CD25 on Sailing La Vagabond
I have enjoyed the adventures of La Vagabond for a few years now, but their latest vlog on YouTube, episode 239, has a very brief shot of an unnamed CD25 (or 27??) at 5:58 at anchor in the Chesapeake Bay not far from Annapolis. It is a great shot. Our boats are really beautiful!

Re: CD 25 Water Tank
It sure does sound like you have a leaking tank, if there even is a tank??? My 1979 CD25 and my previous 1974 CD25 both had / have a plastic water tank that fits snugly into the v berth under the bunk. There is a large plastic screw on access cap immediately below the wooden access hatch you mention...

Re: CD 25 smooth running engine options
What kind of sound dampening material is best, and how was it attached to the engine compartment cover on the CD 25?

Re: One More Question
Same here - and my CD25 is named Windsong too, and I also have the Tohatsu 6HP 25 inch SailPro. If you were able to get the tiller handle through the opening, you would greatly reduce the ability to steer with the motor, which can be helpful in a tight spot. I just fold the handle back and close the...

CD25 bilge water removal
My CD25 occasionally gets a small amount of water in the bilge - maybe 1/2 inch deep. I think it is a small leak during heavy thunderstorms. It is not enough to get a pump on it, but enough that I would like to get it out. Any ideas on removing such a small amount? It is a difficult place to reach. ...

Re: Replacing port glass
I just purchased a pin punch the size of the hinge pins (?) and tapped them out with a hammer. I took the windows to a local Rick’s Glass shop and they replaced with same type glass. Easy installation with the same pin punch and hinge pins. Not expensive or difficult.

Re: Just to keep the winter going... heheh
It is very easy and inexpensive to fashion an emergency tiller from 1 1/4" lumber stock - just cut to length and drill the appropriate two holes to fit the tiller fitting. It's not beautiful but serviceable if you happen to break your standard tiller. I keep one in my v berth.

Re: Tohatsu...
I purchased a new 6HP 4 stroke Tohatsu 25 inch shaft for my 1979 CD 25 last summer and have very happy with it I only use ethanol free gas that I buy for about $4 a gallon at a local gas station here in Savannah. I get full hull speed - about 5.5 - 6 knots at about 40 -50 % throttle. My only reserva...

Re: OB in the well
I have no experience with the 2.3HP motor you mentioned. I also had a 6 HP Johnson that weighed about 85 lbs - it was a killer getting it in and out of the well. I have gone to a 6HP Tohatsu 4 cycle with a 25 inch shaft that weighs just under 60 lbs. It does a great job pushing my CD25 in any condit...

Simrad TP22 vs Raymarine ST2000
Can anyone offer recent experiences comparing these two tiller pilots? Looking through the archives there seems to be more about the ST2000, but a couple of comments indicating the TP22 is better. The ST2000 spec says 169 lb thrust vs 154 for TP 22, and less current draw for ST2000, 40 ma vs 60 ma. ...

Re: Replace damaged rubrail section on CD25
My 1979 CD25 just lost 9 ft of rubrail on starboard and 7 ft on port thanks to Hurricane Matthew. Rubrail is definitely a separate piece from the toe rail and is screwed directly into the hull. Estimates for repairs of the teak are $3000 - $4000 around Savannah. Sounds crazy but that's it. Gel coat ...

Re: My new CD25
Yes - as of this minute. I am concerned about the storm surge tonight. It may float the docks off the top of the pilings, and then bad things are very likely. I have evacuated the area, but have some friends who are still there so I will know what happened in the morning. I have been in the same mar...
