It is 3 ft 7 in

Thanks for your input. I also received Spartan typed info from lenwalker that confirmed the 3 ft 7 in measurement.

CD-25 Boom Vang Bail Location

I have looked at our website's 1978 CD-25 Owners Manual last page that has hand written instructions for proper location of the boom bail for a vang. But I cannot decipher whether it says 3ft 1 in or 3 ft 7 in. The other 1's on the page don't have a "hat", but the other 7's are much more d...

Leave it in

I have had my current CD25 for 24 years in a tidal creek in Savannah. I leave my outboard in the water at least 51 week a year - it is only out twice a year when I pull it to scrape off barnacles and change the gear lube. The first 9.9 that came with the boat lasted about 11 or 12 years, and the cur...

The power is in the propeller

Be sure to get the "power" propeller - that's the one with the large, flat blades. The standard prop that comes on most moters is not the correct one for pushing a CD25. I almost gave up on my 6HP before I found this out. Now I'm a happy sailor.

You are OK

I have been attaching zincs to the cavitation plate on OMC outboards for over 20 years in salt / brackish water in Savannah, with excellent results. My last motor lasted about 14 years, and then it was a fuel system that killed it - the lower unit was fine. The only point I would add to your post is...

Are you sure you need a new motor?

Tom - I am no mechanic, but I just went through the same aggravation with my motor dying after expensive repairs. Turns out it was just my old gas line from the tank to the motor - I borrrowed one from a friend and that solved the problem. So, I bought a new line and no more problems. I have been sa...
