Inboard Jib Tracks
Thanks, Duncan, for your suggestion of using my inboard jib tracks to control jib shudder. I should have addressed that, as that was the first thing I tried. Granted, the inboard tracks get the block about 18 inches further forward, it was not enough to control my jib shudder. I never liked using my...

I Found a Solution to My Jib Shudder Problem
I fly a yankee on my CD33, and my traveller does not extend far enough forward along the toerail. My 130 genny is fine, with no shudder at all, but my yankee is a problem when going to windward. I needed to find a way to tighten the leech of my yankee, because I was having exactly the same problem a...

Anyone Try Kanberra Gel?
There was an article about this gel that neutralizes odors in boats and other closed spaces written in the most recent issue of Chesapeake Bay magazine, and it was very positive. The gel is on the pricey side, and I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with it. The claim is that the gel des...

Try Lee Sails
Hi Zeida, I went through a mainsail replacement for my CD33 a year ago. I was very happy with the mainsail that Lee Sails made for my Typhoon several years ago, so I tried them for my CD33. Again, I'm very happy with the sail they built for me. Their distributor is on Long Island, and the sails are ...

Try Cajun Ropes from Canada
Ken - I really like Cajun Ropes. Quality is great, and prices are very reasonable. http://www.cajunrope.com/ Yes, I agree with you that 3 strand nylon is the way to go for storm dock lines, just to get the shock absorption. I'm making a set for myself, too.

On the Other Hand..
I have a 35 lb Manson Supreme on my CD33 (no bowsprit, of course), and it fits very well. It's probably larger than I need for the Chesapeake, with 30 ft of chain and 250 ft of line, but I've not yet had to reset the anchor (knock on wood!).

Verizon Coverage in the Lower CB
Hi Mitch, Just 3 weeks ago I made a trip from Herring Bay down the Chesapeake to Elizabeth City, NC and back, with my Verizon iPhone 4. We had no coverage problems at all, except during our stop at Tangier Island where neither ATT or Verizon worked well. I've been very happy with my coverage out int...

Fuel Shutoff Valve Partially Closed?
I wonder if someone inadvertently partially pulled out your fuel shutoff knob during your sail? Or perhaps your air intake is partially blocked?
I'll be interested to hear what you find - I'm quite confident the solution is relatively simple (I hope!).

Davis Utility Light is the Way to Go!
I agree with Zeida in that an LED hung from the end of the boom is the way to go. I use the Davis Utility light, and it's great. Here's the link to it at Defender: http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1%7C65136%7C992429&id=7961 . I don't use my mast-top anchor light either - if somebody is ...

Your Anchor Light Looks Right to Me
I just came back from a weekend on my '33, and checked my spare incandescent anchor light bulbs - the pins are straight across. My '33 is an '81 - #59. So, the link you provided looks to me like it's for the correct bulb.

SuperTurbo Electric Air Pump
These battery operated air pumps are terrific, and make easy work out of inflating any boat. I keep my inflatable rolled up on the quarterberth, and when it's hot and sticky outside and want to get ashore, I'm really glad to have one of these pumps. They are a bit pricey, but they are worth it. Defe...

A Manson 35 on my CD33
These aren't the best shots, but they show my 35 lb Manson on our CD33 with the Spartan bowroller. It's a fine fit, with no mods needed. I regret I don't have a closer shot of the anchor on the roller at the moment. I really like the anchor, though I've not taken it out of the Chesapeake. I use it w...

Garmin GPSMap 478
It's a great unit, though discontinued. You might find a "new" one on EBay. Great screen, fast processor, and it's preloaded with both US coastline Bluecharts, and North America road maps. I've really enjoyed mine.

Mechanical Stripping
Hi Cliff, A couple of years ago, while on the hard at Shipwright Harbor in Deale, MD, I had my CD33 bottom paint mechanically stripped. They did a terrific job, and I'd highly recommend them for the work. Once they finished, I went back and sanded the bottom with a random orbit sander to clean it up...
