CD25

I need to replace the traveler system on my cd25 as the car and block are hopelessly broken. Has anyone done this and what system did you use that will fit into the space between the motor well cover and the rear of the cockpit?

Perhaps a bit of wine, some sweet talk with soft music in the background might help. Failing that, a good dose of beer for yourself helps to alleviate some of the pain.

No shutter

I purchased a TYW new in 1980 and owned it until 2009. I retained the hank on head sail and used sails from a storm jib up to a 150% Genny. I never experienced the shuttering that you are talking about. But, my CD25 came with a roller furling Jib which did shutter and when I removed it and returned ...

Not advisable

I had to replace the engine on my CD25 this year because of major corrosion caused by my leaving the engine in-water. I now RELIGIOUSLY remove the engine after use. This is especially important in saltwater.

steering with the motor

I install the engine with the tiller pointed upward which enables me to steer the engine. I made a hole in the hatch cover to accommodate the tiller when the hatch is closed and have had no problems with shipping water onboard.

It seems that no matter what size of toy you're sailing there is always valid reasons to buy one "just a little bit bigger" than the one you currently own. God knows that I have succumbed to the urge. I finally came to my senses after buying a CSY 44 in 1979. I didn't sail ... I went out t...

I too, am married to a munchkin. My youngest takes no end of delight in calling her mother a "Hobbit" so the headroom in my 25 is not an issue with her. Me , on the other hand .............

I used to remove the screws for the Bow Chock and back stay bracket on my Typhoon Weekender once a year and then sprayed some WD40 into the holes at the advice of the dealer where I purchased it new. I owned it for over 26 years and never had a bit of problem. I have continued that practice with my ...

Outboard in a well

I agree. The reason that I had to replace my engine was caused by the constant immersion in salt water. I install the engine when I wish to sail and then remove it, take it home and do a THOROUGH flushing after every sail. As the engine doesn't weight THAT much, at 59, I have little problem installi...

I just replaced my outboard with a new Honda 5hp engine with the generator option. It fit into the well with no problem and the hatch closes completely without striking the engine.

The Dry Tortugas are a reasonable sail from Tampa. We go there regularly from Sarasota on my CD25. It's far enough that you get to experience standing watches and the like. We have gone in groups, we sailed alone and we have raced in a regatta from Sarasota to Key West and then off on our own to the...
