MMSI
Registered years ago and I also have the GPS and VHF talking to each other. As for the International MMSI issue, per Boat US "Did you know that you have to change your MMSI number if you want to cruise internationally? Due to a glitch in the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licensing sys...

You need to check with the individual airline.
Federal policy (international too) now allows CO2 cylinders on the aircraft (think about their lifevests stowed under the seat, the liferafts in the overheard compartments and the slides at the doors), but they left it up to each airline to actually allow them onto the aircraft. Check w/ your airlin...

CD27
My 1980 has the bow locker too. I also have the bow sprit, that I remember reading was an option on the 27's.
Why do you think the locker was was added sometime after production was started? If there was a change, maybe something was deleted in the later models to save money.

Take a look at other painted boats at the Club.
Have your Father come down and take a look. They have been running teh perimeter band from stanchion to stanchion and not use any belly straps. The shrinkwrap does not extend all the way to or past the rubrail. I can send a PM if your Father wants to know which boats to look at or just have come dow...

Ok, ok, compromise is a better choice.
Although someones first time in reverse, in a tight or otherwise interesting situation, might use other words. Never said that this type of boat could not be maneuvered in reverse, one just has to know about it, have at least one plan for what they want to do and have a backup plan if things go wron...

The 27 does not have a compression post under the deck stepped mast. It has a big steel H in the coach roof to transfer the mast load down to the deck and hull. If someone were to crank the shrouds up tight, they could put a dimple into the coach roof centered under the mast step. Use a tension gaug...

Basic question, what do you want to do w/ the boat?
As for pointing (pinting), the type of keel is not the only factor. Sail condition, sheeting arrangement, rig and sail tensioning, etc all play a part.
And given a bit a wind, I can point within the V of the Windex.

I assume she was under full sails,
if she was going at a good clip. Guess the wind was up.
Were there any other sailboats around? There might have been an unofficial sailboat race going on. See the thread "Unofficial side by side test. CD30 Ketch & CD26 ", for rules.

Sure
but what do you add, hydrogen or oxygen to reconstitute?
For that matter, just carry both and produce power and potable water.

Great sucess with Garmin
If this is your first time, you have to ask yourself some questions. Decide where you are going to use the unit. Just marine, or are you going to use elsewhere, like car, bike, hiking, etc. This determines what map(s) you need in it. Some can be loaded, and other come preloaded. Decide what you are ...

Not the only one,
How about noticing a loose loop around ones foot, or, at least on the 27 (Warren??), the lines like to loop around the throttle/shift lever. Like Warren, I am constantly neating and checking where the lines are. One never knows, even on a mild day, when the pucker factor can arise. Ron, many factors...

Faulty radio???
Could happen. Complain to WM and get a warranty checkout (and service) of the unit. The low power setting (1 watt) might get up to a one mile range (harbor use), while the mid (2.5 watt) and high (5 watt) should get much farther, all LINE OF SIGHT. For comparisons, take a look at Practical Sailor, J...

Anybody else think this sounds like a clog?
Once again, when was the last time the fuel filter(s) were changed? Could also be a sock on the end of the fuel pickup line in the tank that is clogged. Look for any sort of inspection cover(s) on the fuel tank or look if the pickup/return lines are on a removable plate. You might have a load of cru...

Questions,
were you getting air(bubbles), when you started bleeding the system? Since the engine started (and restarted) when you had the initial problem, would think that an air lock fuel system is not the problme, unless you have a loose fuel line somewhere. Maybe start with the two things that a diesel need...
