That was mean, doubleb. I dont wish that on any boater, including some PWC drivers. Doesnt mean I wouldnt dump sugar in their gas tank, though.

And to stir up the South,

Those who haul their boats for the winter, and those who dont.
Snowbirds dont count on this one, as they splash for the winter.

Thoughts

On pump selection, select it (or them) to make you feel comfortable. There are those that are probably comfortable with a manual pump, while others have put in two electric pumps and have the manual as back up and are still not completely comfortable. FYI, the two pump set up is a small pump/switch ...

The real dividing line

Ones who post to this thread and the ones who dont. OMG, I JUST WENT OVER TO THE DARK (but fun) SIDE!! And to mgphl62 (Bill Cochrane), on, "And those that know hexadecimal, and those that don't.", what about those that know binary and those that dont??? Thats ideal for this, but is 1 assig...

Maybe take a look in the bilge, too

If you found that stuff under the engine, wonder what might be in the bilge? Everything tends to end up there. Take a wet/dry vac to get out all the water, then grab anything with an "olive picker". In mine, besides the usual pieces of hardware, nuts, washers, screws, bolts, zip ties, I fo...

And remember to check your stands, often.

They can loosen, from things, such as the stand sinking into the ground, working out from the boat, some good samaritan or the yard help touching the stand. BUT, dont overtighten the stands, or you will put dimples (oilcanning) in the hull. Dont forget to pitch the boat fore/aft, to allow water to d...

Re: Mounting position of a "handheld" GPS

My eyes are 60 years old, just like the rest of me. I can read the handheld just fine. But some of us need a running start to leap tall buildings, Neil. I can read my 276C, with a 3.0" x 2.2"size screen, reasonable well, even with the sun hitting it from the wrong angle, but a 76C, with a...

Mounting position of a "handheld" GPS

What size handheld are you looking at and where would you mount it? Then the big question, could you read the screen from posible helming locations? I have a Garmin 276C on an arm that swings it into the companion way, and if I am sitting on the traveler, the text is just readable. And this is NOT t...

Price comparison

Since you did the research, how much more would you have to pay to go the full Spartan route as compared to the the full BV route? Wondering if the price difference is now becoming acceptable, once your fustration factor is being added in.

Dont have answers for you, but am not just lurking.

Examine the gate and the the surrounding mast.

The gate, when locked closed, should be tight fitting and inside should look to the sail slide, just like the mast track, ideally, with no noticeable transition from the mast track. You may have to do things like modify the gate lock, so it does not get forced open a little, or either add, or remove...
