Ed's Reply...
Ed - your reply was so accurate. I can remember every boat I've ever owned. Not just the name, but the bow reg. numbers, length, power plant, and where she took me. And, I can honestly say that I've shed tears when giving one of my 'gals' up. "But the spirit lingers, reminding, urging", gr...

Adventure!
Condolences in your loss, but you now have one Heck of a story to share around a campfire, or next time you're rafted up and looking for conversation topics. I'd start it, "Have you heard the story about the guy who..." :D Hoping that it is a once in a lifetime adventure, and we're all gre...

symptoms of bad shaft alignment
This is an area where I have some experience. All of which has been with power boats up till now, but functionally its the same. Paul - you did the reply justice for sure. Its not a simple job that those of us who are impaired by our vintage (old bones/joints) should take lightly. But, when done rig...

Big help, many thanks again!
Doug, I e-mailed the good folks at Dwyer, and got a prompt reply. I also called Rig-Right and, contrary to the bad rap they have been getting on this board, I got a live person on the phone. . . Ok, so it was someone's teenage son, but he took my information down and said someone would call me back....

Dwyer
Doug, I searched the "where to look" link above and couldn't find a link for Dwyer. Do you have contact information still? Will I need to take out a mortgage to pay for the part? Also, how difficult a job was it to replace the tabernacle? I haven't really attacked it yet, but it appears to...

You guys are great!
Not bad, 13 minutes to get an answer!
I'll be on the phone to them this afternoon.
Thanks again for all the help!

Where?
Thanks O J and Dick, for the quick replies. I am beginning to feel like this site is my own little "ask Jeeves" tool with emphasis on my beloved CD :D . My pockets are not bottomless, but this is a case where I think NEW would be better than FIXED, as long as I don't have to stop by the am...

Cracker Boys, Skip?
Skip, was that the Cracker Boys by Lake Worth Inlet by any chance? That's where I had our CD 25 towed to and yanked out back on 4/1/06. The yard guys were courteous and all, but too much in a hurry though for my preference. I had just finished a whirlwind drive from Lauderdale to Tom's River NJ and ...

CD 25 Tabernacle
(I hope that's the right term for the hinged plate at the top of the cabin, upon which the mast sits) The last two months have been a learning process for me and Admiral Patty. I'll admit it, I even bought "sailing for dummies" on amazon.com. As a college professor by trade, I am hu...

Dave,
Awesome job on that boat. We've got a lot to do yet on our #282, "Play it Again Sam" but you've given us hope!
Fair skys and tail winds!

Word to the wise
Just my $.02 here... If you're in a neighborhood (port) where you don't know anyone, don't rely on the seller's recommendations, and this includes his/her choice of surveyor. His next door neighbor's cousin's boyfriend's brother is likely to have a bias when it comes to doing a good honest job. Its ...

default wiring
Having been a boater for the last 3 decades has taught me a few lessons the same way you learned this one. . . the hard way. One of my past boats used to be over 50 miles from where I lived, and so it was more than just a 'stop by' kind of a relationship. When I had that boat, I wired it in such a w...

Big Tuna Salvage
Boyd, The address listed on the Yahoo Yellow pages is wrong. They're at the end of the first street east of 441 on Griffin Rd on the north side. Coming from 441 go east. Take your first left and go to the end. They're on the right side. I got a PM from Bob on Friday, he found Lighthouse Shipwright a...

Thanks Mike, it sure would be easier than having a new one made up and taking the chance that it is too long or too short.

Oops!
I checked the math... it isn't all that precise! With the mast height of 318 1/2", 318.5 squared = 101442.25 Your "J" dimension of 81", 81 squared = 6561 The sum of these two is: 108003.25, and the square root of which is 328.6384792 (I checked it in Excel!) Simply doing the math...
