Yikes! Do I really dare enter this discusion???

Well, Yes! Just now reading this entire thread, I noted several things: 1) Nobody mentioned the difference between "air" and "water"... Air can be compressed and water cannot. 2) Most all serious racing boats have folding props OR at least only 2 blades. As previously mentioned, ...

Seriously consider a smaller (lighter) outboard!

My second CD25 came with a VERY heavy 9.9 outboard (as did my first 25). However, I had started racing when I bought Brigitta and YES, the drag is anything but negligible (in my opinion). Plus, I kept her in a salt water marina year round, aka lost of extra maintenance on the water pump, etc. My sol...

CD25D vs CD22

Hi Brian, I have owned 2 CD25s and frequently sailed a friend's CD25D. Some of the initial tenderness may be attributed to the higher freeboard of the 25D (and, I presume, the same feeling may show between a CD22 vs a CD22D). Also, as Rollergirl pointed out, baggy sails can definitely affect heeling...

Can't resist...

In all of years of sailing I have yet to find a tiller boat with an emergency wheel. :?:

But I have helmed some wheel boats that handle just as sweet as a tiller. :D

Detachable inner stay - the "pictures"

KAYLA came with exactly this arrangement, installed by an excellently skilled boatwright/previous-owner. We have used it for a storm sail with the original working jib and we also have very light weight 155 that we can raise and lower in combination with the furling 135 genoa. In fact, a few weeks ...

It's 5'o'clock somewhere...

Yep! We also use the wonderful "Coffee/Tea" bags and they always work with little or no mess. And after 1 or 2 dunkin's, it's generally Miller Time, anyway. OK, before I get blasted too severely, that's always "weather dependent"... :-) If I worried 'bout roastin' and grindin' an...

s/v KAYLA starts new race season

Whew! What a workout! But one ton of fun! Toni's flight was late getting in Thursday so we didn't get home till well after midnight. Then it was up at O-ugly-something Friday morning and we both had a few details with work to see to. We finally got away from the marina at 0900 and set the mainsail r...

re: outboard for CD25

My last CD25 came with a 9.9 Yachtwin that was too old, too heavy and total overkill. I replaced it with a 6hp Nissan 4-stroke that fit great, motored well and was rather easy to move from well to cabin sole (which is where it spent most of its time...:-). With the proper prop, a 6hp is just about p...
