Bill,
I had forgot to mention the Ensign as well as the Commander! Yes, nice Albergs.

it might be noted that...
It should be noted that a few years ago a fellow named Robert Gainer single handed a Sea Sprite across the North Atlantic. Without a windvane or auto pilot either. These two small but well built boats are extremely under-rated, and you could add in the slightly larger Pearson Ariel. ...one of these ...

Thanks LG,
I dl'd the thing, it was in Real Player format, so converted it to a wmv file. It was worth the effort.

Re: Anchoring Question
... How do you anchor with his rig? He has a 45# CQR on a bow roller with 50 ft of chain and 250 ft of rode. The anchor/chain connection is a swivel anchor connector and the chain/anchor connection is a chin to rope splice. He has a vertical windlass with a chain/rope gypsy. I deployed off the bow ...

I believe this sail boat would win....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCuP-XHefTo At 47 knots, I do believe tis sailboat would win the cup!!! As some young of the past might exclaim 'Unfreaking real!" Average of the guys running back and forth from sponson to sponson: age twenty-something, IQ in the single digits. ;) ..and ain't th...

Really, really really nice....
Bob, Isn't it just the best? Boy, you did a bang up job on the pictures and the narrative. I really like the lee boards, and doing your own LED conversion fro the lights. How dare you turn your plotter off and look at the sea and such! heh Bearing compass, why I've been told by myriads of Beneteau a...

for Carter...NOT for when sailing...
I have a bit of the eclectic in my musical tastes and so cannot settle on one particular piece or genre while sailing. BUT I am pretty much convinced of one thing, you do not play Bartok's 6 String Quartets unless you want some excitement in the area. ...I swear any one of them will cause dis-ease a...

PhotoC...maybe...
Some transmissions use a double clutch affair instead of normal gears . What happens is that since most of the work done is in forward gear that particular 'clutch' surface wears out before it's reverse counterpart does. I am certain my nomenclature is wrong, but the gist of it is correct. Thing to ...

Bilge pump solution....
In my mind there is no other more elegant 'bilge pump', than the good old fashioned CANVAS bucket. Many sizes available, store completely flat and weigh next to nothing. Prices range from $7-$20 (although for twenty bucks I expect it to come with a janitor). ...but as a friends son demonstrated a fe...

Well done video for single handers(and others)....

This video is brilliant. The guy filmed it via a kite cam, yeah, single-handed! The end of the film shows him running twins. The boat is a Dana 24
happy viewing,

Russ that's an easy one...;)
Nobody made note of the REAL downside of this boat - the diesel took out the roomy cooler! How is the Captain going to get his cooling liquid refreshments while underway? The motor well is no longer needed as such...a little glassing, a lot of insulation and VOILA! A two week COOLER supreme! (okay ...

lean vs rich .>Re: Surely you know the difference
Oh come on, guys, surely you know the difference between diesel and gasoline engines. .......The mystery for me is how can the engine speed increase if the fuel is reduced, thus making the mixture richer, not leaner? John V. The terms 'richer' and 'leaner' are based upon the amount of FUEL in the m...

Good pix of CD25 with a diesel installed...
Excellent set of photos accompany this listing. A westerbeke is installed. Also note the additional winches. It appears from the photos that they also replaced the 'rammer', i'e' the bronze stemhead assybley. At any rate it's certainly not your 'run of the mill' 1973 CD-25. ;) hey Seahunt you lookin...

boxers or briefs?....
Dideraux, do old sailors wear boxers or briefs?
Depends.[/quote]
Briefs when young, the bits can get tangled in the rigging...boxers when old, as greater needs outweigh fears of mutilation!
Depends? nah, they're for psychotic astronauts these days...they have no rails!

Re: America's Cup
Sad isn't it. I have always followed this race since a child. But when the finals are between 'Metamucil' and 'Preparation H' I swear that I'll quit!Dean Abramson wrote:... Unfortunately, none of these teams are truly national anymore.
