Thanks for the suggestions. I used to have a catboat so I know what you mean.
One consideration is that I singlehand most of the time. At this point, cleat shoes seem to make the most sense.
Thanks, JBA

Foredeck cleat
Hello all,
My gernoa sheets get caught on my centerline foredeck cleat while tacking. Does anyone else have the same problem? Any solution?
Thanks, JBA

Ty mast
Hello all, I have had this problem since I bought my Typhoon. When my mast is down and on saw horses it is ramrod straight. When it is up, even before I start tightening any shrouds or stays, the mast has a pronounced curve above the spreaders. As I said, all rigging remains loose. No matter what co...

topside rub removal
Hello all, I had my topsides compounded and waxed this Spring. The result is beautiful and gives me even more pride in having a Cape Dory. Sunday the rubrail of my dinghy bumped the topside and left a very small blue smudge mark. I cannot even feel it if I rub my finger across it, but I know that it...

Mercury outboard
Hello all, I have a 2 stroke/5hp mercury outboard with a long shaft. It has a fitting that is not explained in the manual. On the bottom of the flat wing just aft of the oil level opening there is a screw. It barely shows in the diagrams in the manual but it is definitly there. Does anyone know what...

rudderpost leak
Hello all,
Last fall I removed the two small wood sections around the rudder post that kept the water out of the bilge of my Typhoon. I am ready to re-install but need some guidance. If I coat the bottom of the wood with 4200, will that do the job? Any other suggestions? Thanks, JBA

spreader base
Hello all:
The spreader bases on my TY are welded at a right angle to the mast. How can I get the bi-section of the shroud without bending something? I checked the archives but could not find this specific issue addressed.
Thanks,
JBA
