I've just put two Winchers on my CD25 sheet winches. My experience with them years and years ago on a Catalina 22 leads me to think that they'll be valuable additions at a reasonable cost. They're not truly self-tailers, but their cleating function alone makes them worthwhile in moderate air. With t...

When the pronunciation of Epifanes is settled (if it is), what about the ventilation funnel, box, and baffle combination--dorade? (Or is it properly capitalized as Dorade?)
Door-ADE? Door-ADD? Or...?

This event proved the worth of a DVR. Whizz through the endless commercials (although the misplaced one for cleaning the copper residue out of your rifle barrel had a certain weird appeal), most of the commentary, and the windward legs after the start and first crossing. National crews? Maybe a good...

Yes, Joe, you are nuts. And this is the friendly asylum. When you get all those boats, can I have your CD motorsailer?

This Spring I had the yard remove the old gate valves and hoses of my CD 25 and replace them with bronze sea cocks and new double-clamped hoses. One hole in the hull was left, so I had the revolving wheel (or whatever it's called in nauticalese) for the knot meter removed, the hole filled and glasse...

The fireworks at St. Michaels are on June 30, Miles River, just off the Miles River Yacht Club after sundown. Maybe you could make a tour of it, one night here, one there, one elsewhere

mud dauber / wasp prevention

With warm weather approaching, the mud daubers / wasps will be stirring. They have a genius for nesting in boats (e.g. on the walls of the cardboard sleeve inside a roll of TP). They can get through the tiniest of openings (e.g. around the main hatch/drop board/sea hood). Anyone found a workable way...

Over boom awnings: favorites?

I have a CD25 and am interested in ideas for an awning to fit over the boom and shade the cockpit when anchored or docked. This can be custom made, of course, but has anyone found a satisfactory ready made version? The awnings from ShadeTree look interesting; the effect is something like a Conestoga...

Astonishing!

Not merely renewed, restored, or rebuilt...but essentially remanufactured.

Look forward to learning about more of the details. For instance, did you install fixed ports or opening ones?
