Re: Compass deviation

Most of our sailing is VFR with probably less than 10% of our time sailing on a compass course. On our 25D we used a surface mount compass mounted on the INSIDE of the bottom companion way drop board. When we need the compass we just put the drop board in backwards. It makes it a little bit clumsy s...

Re: Hurrricane Harvey

Bob, I have heard from the Gulf Coast Fleet Captain, and our Rear Commodore nominee. They are both high and dry but have not yet been able to get to their boats in Clear Lake. There had not been any significant winds in that area as of that time, but water levels were very high. Clear Lake is not re...

Re: A Curiosity

Cliff, Were the lines the same length? possibly one was clear of the water at low tide, which would explain it, otherwise I have no idea. By the way, I have always used three strand for dock lines, they are much less subject to chafing, retain more of their strength when chafed, generally have more ...

Re: Commemorative Coins are in the mail

To answer the last two questions; We purchased enough coins for one per member and a sufficient reserve for new members who join in 2017 to also receive one. At this time there is no plan to have any additional coins cast, but we may consider an additional order at a later time.

Thanks,

We know where you live! (We think) Dues notices in the mail

2017 dues notices were put in the mail today. If you do not receive yours within the next week it is probably because you have taken advantage of a multi year discount, or we really don't know where you live. If that is the case please let us know. New for this year, current members will not get a b...

Cape Dory Photo Contest

We are looking for the best photos of Cape Dory Sailboats ever taken. In 2017 the CDSOA will sponsor a photo contest to find those photos, and we will compile the best twelve into a 2018 wall calendar to be given to all active CDSOA members. See the recently posted article in the Masthead (cdsoamast...

Re: PSS Dripless Shaft Seal; care and maintenance

Roberto, I am looking forward to hearing a reply from someone who may know for sure if that is an accurate suggestion. It sounds counterproductive to me to place a flexible substance in an atypical position for an extended non use period (kind of like storing a car with flat tires). I do know that y...
