Re: 25D accomodations
Capt. Pepa, I agree with all of the above except that while Carl Alberg was certainly a great boat designer, as a furniture designer, well, not so much. The best tool to gain leverage for extracting the table is the table itself. By simultaneously pullng and twisting, one end or the other should bre...

Re: Installing air conditioning unit in Cape Dory Daysailor
Roberto, Upon further reflection about your problem of how to keep cool while sailing in Miami, I was reminded of a similar problem in which one of our members who was fishing our northernmost waters in the native traditions was looking for suggestions on how he might stave off the cold, and it was ...

Roberto,
If you install the unit well forward you can maintain proper trim by installing dinghy davits on the stern.

2018 Membership Directories are going in the mail
The post office annex in the village of Pace is run by two sweet little old ladies working out of a back room in their antique shop. If we were to drop off three to four hundred packages all at once it could produce more stress than the ladies could handle, and therefore we bring them down in batche...

Tom, Congratulations on your new boat and welcome to the message board. A check of the CDSOA database shows that we have eight active members who own a 300MS, three of them are members of the Chesapeake Fleet. Most CDSOA fleet activities involve a lot of discussion about every conceivable topic that...

Re: CD36 Registry
Concerning improvements to "this site", we need to understand that there may be at least four separate entities that we are talking about when we say "this site"; The CDSOA website (cdsoa.org), of which the Cape Dory Board (what you are now reading) is a part, the registry, which...

Re: No sailing for awhile!!
I did a CDSOA database search for current or former members with a Rockport hailing port or a Rockport marina town and found six results, but none with Typhoons. There are over 1500 Cape Dorys in the database which can be searched, should we find a Cape Dory in one form of distress or another. The d...

Re: Typhoon Model G?
Joe, The 2016 CDSOA Membership Directory has full color pictures of all known Cape Dory models, and shows that 141 Cape Dory Daysailors were built, but no distinction was made between open and Cuddy models. The CDSOA database shows that 47 current or past members have owned Daysailors at one time or...

Re: Adding Ballast Aft?
Robert, 25Ds were originally powered with the 1GM. I suspect you may be riding high in the stern only relative to where it was with the Westerbeke, and you may now be on your designed marks. In any event, if you decide to add weight I would suggest making it useful weight. An extra battery, spare an...
