I went to Strictly Sail Miami yesterday. It was very nice. Seemed like a lot more attendees than the past few years. I picked up all the brochures, etc. requested as well as the individual products requested by some. I will mail them out today and/or Tuesday, 22 Feb. USPS is closed Monday. If anyone...

Since I am also in search of a CD 25D this post may not really be in my best interest, but in the spirit of the CDSOA..... There is a Cape Dory 25D with trailer located in or near Lorain, Ohio. It was posted for sale on this board. There is a trailer. http://www.capedory.org/board/viewtopic.php?t=27...

Re: Source for Badger Hair Brushes??

Jeff, I can't find badger hair brushes anywhere. Do you have a source for them? I'm not a big on-line shopper, but for this I'd make an exception, since I can't find a local source anywhere. Carl: Jamestown Distributors, Bristol, RI, sells them. http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_...

Dean: I would ask the rigger why he installed SS instead of bronze when what he removed was bronze. If he has a reasonable, logical explanation then you may want to adopt JV's suggestion of paying the difference to get bronze turnbuckles. However you arrive at it and regardless of who ends up paying...

Hello Jack: Welcome to the CDSOA family :!: I had a Suzuki 6 hp/4 stroke on my 1977 Cape Dory Typhoon Weekender. It was part of the package when I bought her. It was a long shaft (LS) 20". The 6 hp was generally more than needed except a few times in a strong head wind and a strong current. The...

I lack the experience and skills of most on this board. That said, I would offer the following. After taking sailing lessons on a Colgate 26, I sailed for two years on weekends on an Ensign 22. We "raced" around cans on Saturdays. The Ensign had roller reefing. We would normally reef at th...

Re: Mama likes her sleep. And if mama ain't happy ...

Our entire cabin is a V berth. We built a platform over the benches and the area between them to the height of the V berth, cut foam to raise that area to the height of the V berth cushions and topped everything with a 2" queen size memory foam mattress. It's really, really nice and comfy in t...

I can't let my good friends OJ and Neil have all the fun. :) Texan walks into a pub in Ireland and clears his voice to the crowd of drinkers. He says, "I hear you Irish are a bunch of hard drinkers. I'll give $500 American dollars to anybody in here who can drink 10 pints of Guinness back-to-ba...

In the October 2010 issue of SAIL there is an educational article with diagrams and pictures entitled "Optimizing Bilge Pumps". It is found at pages 102-107 and is authored by Adam Cort. As I know very little about the subject matter I found the article informative and educational. It disc...
