motoring range cd31

Dean,

I have a Beta Marine 20hp with a 3 blade maxi-prop and at 2800 rpm in calm seas with a light head wind I make 5.5 knots and use about a 1/2 gph. If I have to motor all day (8 to 10 hours) on average I will use about 5 gal. in variable but not extreme wind and sea conditions.

Fair Winds,

Tom

Abby Sunderland

This morning 2 of Abby's rescue beacons were activated and a S&R is under way. A third water activated beacon has not be activated.

cd 31

Michael,

Good purchase. I think the C31 is the best of the CD line, but I am a little biased. She is a good boat and as with all Cape Dories if you treat her well she will get you home.

winter cover frame

I had Fairclough Sailmakers of New Haven, Ct. make a canvas cover and frame for my CD31. They have measured plans for the CD31 so measurements of your boat are not needed. You might be able to get plans for their frame and have they make a cover at a later date.

repower

I have a Beta 20 with a Maxi-prop on my CD31. Works fine and I can get parts at the local tractor supply house.

Dick,

I am thinking you want a CD36, but might not need a CD36. My wife and I sail a CD31 from Westerly, RI to Maine every summer. The boat handles this trip with no trouble. My advice would be to get the smallest boat that is large enough for you.

vacuum sanders

I am a woodworker by trade and I use Festol power tools. Yes they are expensive, but all my workers like them, they last much longer than other brands and they are backed by the manufacture.
