The Cape Dory Board has come in handy this summer keeping
track of some of your activities. Mike Ritenour recently returned from
a summer-long journey to the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Newfoundland.
John Dunn keeps us roaring in our seats with his sailing tales and
battles with the C-Nile virus ;-). Peter Kozup has been busy this summer
moving his son into his new home. Brian McGowan has forwarded his plans
for a CD25 cradle. Leo MacDonald (CDSOA Secretary} hasn't found home
yet - he's wanted in Niagara Falls, NY (work) and Lisbon, Connecticut
(family). Dave VanDenburgh is looking for a flasher, cruising spinnaker
or something to get his boat moving faster in light airs. Ed Haley
has finally got his wife Cindy to enjoy (well, maybe that's stretching
it a bit) sailing and took a nice cruise through the Bay of Quinte.
It just goes to show you the benefit of an online message
board to keep us all abreast of information as to our whereabouts.

Monaghan has been an able and efficient webmaster in keeping this website
popular.
The Great Lakes Fleet was not able to launch an initial sail this summer so we could get to know each other a bit better, but this CD Board has served to keep us all notified of happenings. Maybe we can come up with a way to cruise together next summer - even if it means we get together by driving to a place as Mike Ritenour suggests. Let's talk about it at a Great Lakes Fleet Fall Meeting on November 15th, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m..
The Rochester Yacht
Club is located near the mouth of
the Genesee River as it enters Lake Ontario. Mike Ritenour has volunteered
to present
the first "CD Show/Tell Experience" of his exciting trip
to Newfoundland at the meeting. I'm not sure if you were following
his narratives on the CD Board, but Mike has information for all of
us if we ever want to do any extensive sailing to a distant fantasy.
His sharing of his experience will benefit us all. I'm sure you won't
want to miss it.
Plan for the November 15th meeting now! We'll listen to Mike, plan
for next year and then have dinner together. There are many nautical
prizes to be given away at the meeting. These gifts from a few merchants
were donated to us for our cancelled CanDependence Cruise.
Please send
me an email before October 15th if you are sure you'll
be able to attend. We need to know how many will attend so we can set
aside a room capable of holding us.
Anyone interested in attending this meeting should contact Ed Haley at:
